In his book A Random Walk Down Wall Street economist Burton G. Malkiel stated a well known thesis which while unlikely immediately makes common sense: a blindfolded monkey has as much luck selecting a portfolio by throwing darts as any stock analyst.
Social stock trading community Sharewise (see our coverage) today started the game catch the monkey which challenges its members to prove him wrong. Users shall pick five stocks and the three best performing tips for each week will win an ounce of silber, but only if they also perform better than the (randomly selected) portfolio of a virtual monkey investor dubbed Kong Vestor.
File under weekend tidbits, but it’s a fun way to engage and motivate their users by playfully triggering their competitive reflex.
